At this point I think the evidence is compelling that vaccines still prevent the worst manifestations of delta strain, but protection against symptomatic infection is only good for about six months.
We either need a delta booster vaccine ASAP, or start rolling out third doses.

There is no centralized vaccine tracking in the US, and thus anyone can just walk right in and get a third “first” shot and they have no way of knowing. In some ways it’s admirable how the US has made it as low-barrier as possible to get vaccinated.
