what would be a great US city to visit for a few months for remote work? something smallish, affordable, weather and insects that doesn't try to kill you, walkable?

Ok, that’s fair. It can get cold but it doesn’t typically see a ton of snow. And it’s not like a Midwest winter.

Yeah but Santa Fe

I agree, I think you'd *really* like Santa Fe! Arts and Intellectuals abound. Los Alamos labs folks. Santa Fe Institute. St John's College people are a joy to interact with. Plenty of nature around and not a ton of people. October in New Mexico is brilliant, unlike anywhere else!

You said for a few months. You won't have that problem in August, September, October or November. Pop. 235k (MSA is 650k), walkable, good restaurants, a college town but not. Entrepreneur vibe, funky, libertarian, great natural surroundings 30 minutes out of town.

If that doesn't work for you try Salt Lake City. The next 5 months are beautiful, not too cold in December, beautiful scenery, dynamic economy, growing funky vibe, walkable, light rail in the city. University of Utah provide college influence. Reasonable, great access (airport)
