Why should someone on minimum wage be able to afford a medium-quality 2-bedroom rental? Do we have no room in our society for people who don't need much more than a low-quality one bedroom? or even roommates? I've lived with roommates for years and it's great.

By that argument, why isn't the standard below the minimum wage? Many homeless people have adjusted to their living conditions and learn how to live with minimal things (almost always out of necessity) I think a minimum wage should at the bery least provide you with the ability-

to have your basic needs meet without dependence on others: shelter, water, food, medicine, all of that which is currently inaccessible for most people under the current minimum wage, that standard, I think even a 1 bedroom apartment is outside of that range in a lot of places

Or rather, don't be surprised that people with access to perfectly fine rooms keep trying to eke out enough for their own place and their own family, and that the people who *actually* live in group houses are on average not neurotypical and not culturally mainstream
