i don't care if being gay is a choice or not. I don't care if you woke up and selected the 'gay' option cause you wanted to be edgy, or if it's genetic, or caused by aliens implanting gayness or from being molested as a kid, literally any reason is fine because being gay is fine

Not necessarily. Why have you missed the morally benign option of simply being curious about someone's "odd" choice or behavior? "odd" simply being relative to the "norm", and the "norm" in no way better or superior to the "odd", just different

But it isn't necessarily nonharmful on the societal level; Certain modes of totally free, unconstrained, multi-partner gay sex meaningfully increase the spread of some dangerous pathogens.

One way it could be relevant is if the querent didn't have the preference but wanted to — messy human brains aren't very reflectively consistent — and wondered if there were a way to induce it. [1/2]

What about the argument that it *is* harmful, or that open acceptance of it is, at the societal or cultural level? I don't argue this is true, but it is a position that has at least some support. How the preference arises becomes relevant to determining the potential future harm

I don't think fetishes are sexualities, or warrant protected status. There are healthy fetish scenes, but there are probably much larger invisible populations of ppl incapable of relationships. Just look at the DMs girls get from feet people. 9 out 10 would be happier without it.
