if we heavily stigmatized plumbing - imprisoned and culturally shamed plumbers, excluded them from banking and housing, I betcha we'd see much higher mortality rates among people who choose to become plumbers. But still i'm not sure the answer here would be "don't hire plumbers"

Actual porn stars seem to be really happy with their career choice. But then there are some number of women who have horrific experiences/backgrounds. Wish we could just have more info about *all* women in porn so we could engage in well-informed discussion about this subject

One thing I also wonder is - if I watch free porn but never pay for anything or buy single thing advertised, then aren't I a net drain on the industry? Seems quitting would help them by keeping revenue the same and lowering costs. 🤷‍♂️

So then what is the alternative? Sex, based on Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, is one of the bottom ones. If you want to get rid of porn, EVERYONE needs to be able to have access to sex since it's a basic need. She should pick which one of those battles to fight.

We often hear "Sex work is work", but we rightly heavily stigmatise other forms of work, like child labour, sweatshops, and slavery because they are unethical work practices that exploit people who are often vulnerable, living in poverty or forced against their will. Thoughts?
