If you were to have asked this question 30 or more years ago the answer would be male, hands down, but society is very different now and there are a lot of advantages to being a female that there didn’t used to be. I think it also depends on what societal circles you run in.

The girl is way less likely to do something dangerous / illegal and bankrupt me.

Odd to me this skews so heavily male, 60% as of my vote (female.)
Better life is vague, but so many men I know are facing challenging lives. Women too, but women can bail out in ways men can't.
Better as "less worse" is very clear to me.
