I do not understand why if the only consequence would be your non-existence. Unsure if I miss some detail, or use incompatible mental paradigm.

If I pick up a revolver on the street and shoot other people - expected consequences are that they might die. If the revolver turned out empty and they had a revelation - that's nice, but I still was wrong. Don't confuse actual consequences and expected consequences.

Similar here. Adopted by people who shouldn't have been let near a kid, then learned later in life that bio-dad was schizophrenic. So much trauma was a-parents, some probably the toolbox I inherited. Existence is ok, but good reasons it shouldn't have happened.

Do you think there is inconsistency (you have no obligation to be consistent!) between the desire to help traumatized children and the fact that the world with you have been overall better than the one without you (nobody happier is born instead of you)?

But if your dad had not reproduced, then "you" would not exist, right? It's not as if there is a waiting room where souls congregate before they enter into a specific body. "You" did not exist prior to being conceived. The existence of "you" is contingent on your dad reproducing.
