You forget that schools are not only for (1) education, but (2) to acquire social skills too. Pace at school is deliberately slow–not every child is a fast learner. Thus, school also becomes (3)a place that evaluates every kid's intelligence on one scale.

It sucked. It stole time for me that I otherwise used for my own learning and expression. I taught myself so many things I never ever would have had time to do with public school.
