Srsly I went into a deep hole about how cryptography works, came to the conference ready to hold my own, and found that I could not hold my own because the discussions were really about building businesses and marketing and convincing each other to buy crypto

My colleagues and friends care deeply about how cryptocurrencies work — technology and in terms of socio-economic potential. Some of them work on bitcoin core software. If you want to hang out with some of them for those conversations (and NOT fixated on price movements) … DM.

If your plan is to just get drunk, why bother going? Personally I hate everything about conferences, and I would never go to one unless it was something I wanted to study hard.

I do wonder if this would be different at an Ethereum conference, where it's all about building things on the network, rather than just hodling "digital gold".
