I genuinely like the idea.
But of all the thousands, why have I never encountered a happy thruple or open relationship as more than a phase?
I think there are underappreciated medical reasons you want to limit the number of herpesviruses you encounter too.

Because most people hide their non-monogamy?
Because you haven't met enough people in plural relationships?
Because all relationships are work and you met people when they were having difficulties?

I know plenty of perfectly happy couples. I think the level of cynicism around monogamy might be an issue.
I mean I really can't think of any successful polyamorous relationships among thousands in my network, or any public figures.
And hidden non-monogamy is usually a disaster.

Idk what poly circles you're in, but most of the people in my communities are some level of polyamorous, and a ton of them have good relationships.
And that might be what changes my perspective.
But I think for >90% of ppl, the experience of only being attracted to one person is completely real. (poll?)
And that's why the highs and lows are so extreme. Poly seems like a great escape – but also compensatory?
