I would be curious to see where people who believe the world is unsafe are from

There will always be people in this world eager to hurt others. It is human nature to be selfish, and sometimes violent. That isn't changing. All one can do is be prepared for it.

Considering we live in objectively the safest time in history I'm curious why so many people said they feel unsafe. Is the danger physical or something else (emotional, reputational etc.)?
-
I say physical. I grew up abused by family and 'friends', and I live only a few miles from Murder Town. I've personally witnessed how brutal people are willing to be to "the ones they love" and also to complete strangers. Humans will always be violent to some extent.

It'd be interesting to do this one again in a year and compare the results.

It's relative, I live in outback Australia, no covid cases, hardly any guns, I feel safe here.

With these types of questions we have to consider... compared to what? Compared to the ideal utopia the world is full of dangers. According to all of recorded history, this is by far, by a wide margin, the safest human beings have ever been, even in developing countries.
