We created the system that made many dependent. We keep the poor - poor primarily by oppressing them via corrupt monetary policy. Raising taxes won’t help the poor. Stop the money printer and let the free market play. Since the politicians won’t do it, Bitcoin will have to fix it

If they didn't have family that was willing and able to take care of them, they would beg. Many did indeed starve.

You forgot charity. Apparently, iirc, most hospitals pre-govervment intervention in the us were free and run entirely on charity donations.
That's what I mean by 'beg' though. Charity has always existed and has never matched the existing need. Most people were never seen in the free hospitals.
