We created the system that made many dependent. We keep the poor - poor primarily by oppressing them via corrupt monetary policy. Raising taxes won’t help the poor. Stop the money printer and let the free market play. Since the politicians won’t do it, Bitcoin will have to fix it

How did this work in societies where there was no government welfare in the past?
If they didn't have family that was willing and able to take care of them, they would beg. Many did indeed starve.

You forgot charity. Apparently, iirc, most hospitals pre-govervment intervention in the us were free and run entirely on charity donations.

I’m not against helping people. There is a severely disadvantaged set of people in any culture, government. Governments should in a fully transparent manner tax to support this. It would have little resistance. It shouldn’t print money to accomplish it and pretend it’s free.

Dying was much more common back then. E.g. w.r.t. child mortality. Now it's rare for a child to die.
"Back in the day" it was expected that one of 5 children you make will die. No biggie, that's the way of life.
