I’m not against helping people. There is a severely disadvantaged set of people in any culture, government. Governments should in a fully transparent manner tax to support this. It would have little resistance. It shouldn’t print money to accomplish it and pretend it’s free.

You forgot charity. Apparently, iirc, most hospitals pre-govervment intervention in the us were free and run entirely on charity donations.
