"If you don't like it, move to a different country; you implicitly consent by staying here" is an argument I hear a lot from people when I complain about taxes, but is mysteriously absent when I complain about things like the drug war or bad policing

But saying "I'm forced to drive the speed limit", "I'm forced to show ID to get in a plane", for every law feels a bit over the top. (And maybe a bit teen angsty) It detects from the actual discussion, IMHO.

Once again, tax evasion will put you in jail, simply not paying your taxes will just cause the IRS to start going after your assets. If you're reporting everything correctly, you're not going to jail.

I can’t help but laugh at the level of basic it has to be broken down into before there are no gates left open for their minds to run out of.

The government creates the money in the first place when we choose to provide common services like a court system. The only place you can move to with no taxes is the jungle. Anywhere else it’s simply a question of their level and use
-
And even in the jungle you'd need to live by yourself … because if you want to be part of even the tiniest community they're gonna require you to contribute to it (aka tax) or you'll be kicked out

It’s worse than this because you still have to pay American taxes even if you live overseas

My business partner moved to Costa Rica for many years, and was exempt from US tax. Looks like there's an exemption at least for the first 100K.
