I feel like I'm in crazytown when I express distress about taxation - literally people forcibly taking away your property - and ppl act like I'm the crazy one. Sure, you could argue that this forcible theft is worth it, and I'll respect that, but it's still not crazy to be upset.

Your entire frame for taxation is wrong. Untaxed income is not 'your property' and tax day is not 'forcibly taking it.' That's not how money works, and this frame can do nothing but make you unhappy. That frame and unhappiness are a choice that you are making.

Yep, that's the heart of it. That isn't how money actually works in any advanced economy, but it makes sense given your background. Try to consider the perspective that this sense of ownership over a specific number of obtained value-representing tokens only makes you unhappy.
