I feel like I'm in crazytown when I express distress about taxation - literally people forcibly taking away your property - and ppl act like I'm the crazy one. Sure, you could argue that this forcible theft is worth it, and I'll respect that, but it's still not crazy to be upset.

I don’t think it’s unreasonable to be distressed, at all. Taxes are a capricious and arbitrary use of power, the rational response should be fear and anger. There is no mechanism to consent to an income tax.

You choosing to live in the society that benefits from taxation is consent. Move somewhere else that doesnt have any taxes (good luck finding one) and try to live an equivalent lifestyle. You would be hard pressed.

The US will still tax me even if I leave. I would have to renounce my citizenship. Also can you imagine responding like this to someone who had a different complaint? "You want gay rights? Go move to somewhere that has them"

All the money you earned in the US was in part because of the system of laws that exist in the US, it's perfectly fair to say that you can't take money that you made in that system and walk. It's like hitting free parking in Monopoly, then just quitting to keep the toy money.

I believe the money I earned was *in spite of* most of the US system, not because of it. I think the parts of the system I'm criticizing, have prevented me and nearly every other citizen from being more successful.

Great, then you're entitled to either campaign on that premise and change the laws, or leave the system, recognize that you'll have to pay the exit tax, and try to prove your point in another society.
