I feel like I'm in crazytown when I express distress about taxation - literally people forcibly taking away your property - and ppl act like I'm the crazy one. Sure, you could argue that this forcible theft is worth it, and I'll respect that, but it's still not crazy to be upset.

You only had that property in the first place because of the infrastructure that past taxes created.

How do you know? We didn't have income tax until what... 1913? and America was still creating infrastructure just fine. It's very possible, likely even, that we'd be even more prosperous and happy if we hadn't been taxing this hard since then.

Possible, likely even, we’d be even more prosperous? The wealthy had lower taxes during the Bush years and our infrastructure didn’t get better. Many European countries have higher taxes and their infrastructure is much better than ours in terms of resilience and efficiency.

Our infrastructure didn't get better? Didn't the internet economy get its footing during that time? Also we spend *more money on healthcare* than European countries do, and we have worse outcomes. This isn't just an issue of "raise taxes = better outcomes"

also re: infrastructure, there's *also* a bunch of laws that prevent healthy infrastructure development, regardless of tax rates.

You spend more money on health care precisely because you don’t have socialised healthcare. You want high quality cheap healthcare? This needs taxes.

Definitely true with more taxes=\=better outcomes. Lots of tax dollars go to waste by lining the pockets of contractors. That’s why our money should be used with some oversight. Our internet did gain some ground but it still lags behind other developed countries even to this day

We spend more money on healthcare than other developed countries with higher taxes because it is mostly privatized. You say that companies are more efficient than govt but that is objectively untrue. The profit motive mandates inefficiency.

it's the lack of single payer option at the natl level other countries collectively bargain with health care providers & get better deals vs 50+ little markets with little to no leverage and rentseeking at every level to keep it fcked
