I feel like I'm in crazytown when I express distress about taxation - literally people forcibly taking away your property - and ppl act like I'm the crazy one. Sure, you could argue that this forcible theft is worth it, and I'll respect that, but it's still not crazy to be upset.

I mean, plenty of people leave where they live to go somewhere they see as better. Living somewhere like Uganda, as a non straight might be life or death. They could move somewhere with more equal rights. Easier than changing the local zeitgeist.

This is the exact same argument the mafia made when they shook down businessmen Big fan of that approach?

I will agree it is absolutely fucked up that the US still taxes people who leave but dont give up their citizenship. Isn't California one of the worst offenders of that? I'm not sure, I'm Canadian.

If you move to Puerto Rico you don't have to give up US citizenship.

All the money you earned in the US was in part because of the system of laws that exist in the US, it's perfectly fair to say that you can't take money that you made in that system and walk. It's like hitting free parking in Monopoly, then just quitting to keep the toy money.

I believe the money I earned was *in spite of* most of the US system, not because of it. I think the parts of the system I'm criticizing, have prevented me and nearly every other citizen from being more successful.
