I'm trans and there's a whole lot of places outside of the Bay Area set on trying to control my body. Same for anyone who can get pregnant. And the zoning laws in the Bay may be insane, but the same goes for many other urban areas. Government oppression is national unfortunately.

I also feel this for other things too - drugs, both medical and recreational, zoning laws, how circumcision is legal and sex work is illegal, etc.
