I don't get picture frames. Why would you take a work of art and then slap another thing around it? I want art on my wall, not art inside another thing on my wall. While I get glass for protection and a structure to hold the glass on top, anything more is just excessive.

I too prefer that modern style, but if you're going to hang an old world picture it'd look wrong with out an old world ornamental frame I reckon.
