one thing i hate more than anything is that if i go into a fundie christian space online, under a different handle, and tell anybody at all my birth name, the christians go and tell my dad I'm there and what I'm saying. It's extremely annoying.

i don't go in fundie spaces often, and mostly do it occasionally for nostalgia. i just joined one and forgot that the christians do the tattling thing, mentioned my name, and then had to ask the christians afterwards not to tattle. They *did* agree not to, which was nice of them.

Seems to me that as smart as you are & as "net savvy" as you should be with your 'job experience', you would know better than telling your RL name to anyone, unless you get some thrill from being 'tattled' on.

I hate being tattled on. I have no problems telling ppl my birth name in some other circumstances; it's just "tattling to my dad" is such a bizarre thing to do, and I'm not often enough in Christian circles, that I don't always prepare for it

OMG girl.... Its time to shed the child feels and become a real adult. This tattling thing reminds me of little kids in the schoolyard. Daddy will survive. You are your own person and what others think is completely irrelevant.

Abusive parents aren't much a problem for adults bc you have legal remedies to stop the abuse. Personally, when I moved out from the parents is the day I stopped metering my behavior according to what they would think. I am my own person responsible for my own life & happiness.🙂
