I'm curious: at what point would you personally be willing to renounce your US citizenship and move overseas to avoid punitive taxation? What fraction of your income would they have to tax before you had enough?

There are a number of countries where you can quite easily get citizenship by investment if you have the money for it. Some of these countries offer citizenship for as little as the low $100ks range. I think St Kitts is about $150k.

There are always tradeoffs, of course: the countries where it's cheapest to get citizenship by investment often don't have strong passports in terms of visa-free access to other countries, so if that's important, you're going to need to spend more money.
