I have a needle phobia, about to get needled; trying xanax for the first time. How strong is 0.5 mg? Will it be enough? Should I take 1mg? I'm 130lbs.

Not very strong. Take it, see how you feel. Don't drive a car, operate heavy machinery, etc. until you know how it affects you.

Yes! Only take as needed! It's for acute issues, not an every day thing.

The only times I've ever taken benzos are for needles + once during lasik eye surgery
You can always just take it one night when you're done for the day to test the dose out.
