This would be a very bad idea because of how single minded he can be; he picks a metric to optimise and pushes it relentlessly. As a political leader, he would be something like Stalin.

No. I like him, but that power can corrupt anyone and I have seen mildly shady things from him in the past. Nothing that makes him evil, just...not great for a leader of a country. He’s much better as a tech and business innovator.

The situation is hypothetical on more levels than giving him executive power. His orders would need to be followed to be effective, and society doesn’t work that way. The only laws that are ultimately followed are ones that are accepted/integrated into the apparatus.

I love Elon Musk, but I don't like dictatorships. That said, I still trust him over how broken our government is.
Bonus is that all the 80 year old dinosaurs in politics would probably be dead or much closer to it when his time is up.
