I'm really drawn to sharing stats about stuff that are counterintuitive (did you know as many men report being victims of rape as women?), but there's lots of stats I'm afraid to share here because people will brigade me calling me various forms of evil.

It seems a bit weird that I can't share studies here because of fear of moral outrage. I guess America truly is a christian nation, if not in belief, in spirit.

I don't think it's weird at all; bad-faith representations of data are the norm for sensitive topics, and twitter is a poor format to justify good faith

Put another way: if someone on Twitter shares data on race and IQ, for e.g., my prior is about 10:1 that the person doing so is a racist.

But labelling ppl racist, sexist or transphobic for posting data *is* the problem. Data isn't inherently good or bad, and we can't really accuse anyone without evidence of intent. So 9x out of 10, the accusation is just a way to avoid a difficult discussion.
