literally, my thought designing this party was "i love rationalists, but i dont wanna go to another party where they just talk about stuff like global trade. i'm gonna try to design a situation where there's no possible way they will talk about global trade"

once i threw a party for the bay area rationalists, and the rules to attend were you had to be wearing a full-face coverage mask, and be naked. Many came; they all bravely stripped, donned weird masks... and then proceeded to sit in a polite circle and debate global trade.

my goal was to design a situation where other types of interaction would be a natural result, as opposed to explicitly required from the top down. The naked+mask party failed at this, so I need to figure out other methods.

- invite 2+ people who aren't rats, and aren't familiar with others present - after the party, these 2+ people will be asked to rate how much everybody else present seemed like a "rationalist" - rat with lowest score wins prize

So, theory disapproved. Maybe you should have a room where you are only allowed to discuss global trade and see what that does to the rest of the party.
