It's infuriating. Sex workers are marginalized by society, prohibited from financial services, put in literal jail, often don't have another choice of employment, and when they get slaughtered, what happens? People focus on another common factor and pretend it was due to THAT.

I am really enraged. Absolutely furious. Even if asian-ness *was* a factor, which it easily might not have been (not all killed were asian, asians tend to populate easily-accessible massage parlors, and he could have easily targeted non-sex-work asians),

then the dominant discussion here should *still* be about sex workers. I am really stunned to the degree that the entire world doesn't give a shit about sex workers and wants to redirect everything into race. This is just another, horrible notch in my doubt of racism discourse.

I have Asians on my FB who would never dream of doing sex work, and aren't at risk of going to jail or bearing the social stigma, posting about how afraid they are now because of the shootings. And I'm sitting here as a sex worker like... wait why are *you* the one who's afraid?

He had specifically posted anti Asian hate on his Facebook, which is why he the “media” was going after that. I assume He chose sex workers because they are vulnerable and for him more easy to be “disgusted with”. The discourse that ignores sex workers is dangerous. Yes.

Yes, I meant to focus the wording on how people are covering the story. Was going to follow up clarifying. That “anti Asian” posting got blown up initially. But I also was going to ask where you were seeing this discourse, as I’ve seen a lot of discussions focused on sex workers
