I'm feeling sad about the reaction to the recent shooting. Though the shooter specifically expressed sex worker targeted hatred, and though sex workers experience a much higher % of violence than asians, I've seen only a tiny fraction of the solidarity given to sex workers.

IMO / IME it's because sex workers are still highly stigmatized. I refrain from casting any judgement because it's not my life nor is it my business but I still recognize these are human beings. The diversity and inclusion narrative largely means approved groups, not all groups

It's a simple cynical numbers game. Even if society didn't shame sex work but the ratio of sex workers to Asians was the same in that hypothetical society, the media would play to the larger cohort of customers.

I just don’t understand how you can’t ascertain this being for cynical purposes? That a minority marker such as “Asian” has more force and utility when controlling narratives. Like, I find it sad that you think this discourse is genuine and not attempts to control perceptions
