I'm feeling sad about the reaction to the recent shooting. Though the shooter specifically expressed sex worker targeted hatred, and though sex workers experience a much higher % of violence than asians, I've seen only a tiny fraction of the solidarity given to sex workers.

Like, some solidarity to Asians, I get it - but almost all of it? Is the sex worker part here just totally invisible to people? This situation makes it really clear which groups are more likely to get public support, and which don't, and now I'm sad.

It's a simple cynical numbers game. Even if society didn't shame sex work but the ratio of sex workers to Asians was the same in that hypothetical society, the media would play to the larger cohort of customers.
