Like, some solidarity to Asians, I get it - but almost all of it? Is the sex worker part here just totally invisible to people? This situation makes it really clear which groups are more likely to get public support, and which don't, and now I'm sad.

Look at the results - count how many reference asians, and how many reference sex workers. https://twitter.com/search?q=massage%20parlor%20shooting&src=typed_query …

I can think of two reasons for the lack of references to sex workers compared to Asians. 1) There are a lot more Asians than sex workers. 2) Recent incidents of violence against Asians have heightened interests in other incidents. Doesn’t make it right, but may explain it.

I'll add one more: Almost fanatical interest in racial and identity groups these days.

It depresses me because the whole reaction is just turning into an ID politics game. Today the KKK shoots people and the left celebrates, tomorrow ISIS will and the right will party but the next day they all wake up in a country with too few cops and too many guns.

Were they actually sex workers? Is there proof of that? Massages aren't inherently sexual. And the shooter saying he was trying to get rid of temptation doesn't mean they performed sexual acts.

Massage parlors are often sex worker establishments; the locations in question were listed on erotic review sites, and apparently he'd visited there before and specifically cited sex as a motivation.

This had nothing to do with anti-Asian hate.
