Idk what a better solution is but we need an alternative to "the masses vote according to terrifyingly dismal understandings of how economics works"

I'm in some random political fb groups and the amount of bad economic theory these ppl mass support is seriously unsettling and makes me wanna roll back democracy

Probably worth noting that economists also don't know how the economy works (on average, their predictions are off by about a factor of _five_). So honestly not sure that just going with the crowd is noticeably worse than listening to the "experts".

Generally, the reason why everyone is able to vote is due to the theory that "government should move slowly". It takes a long time for a massive audience to change their mind/habits/voting. But much faster for individuals, especially highly educated individuals.

I say make it ranked choice voting and let's see how it works out after a couple decades

I genuinely believe we need to replace government with artificial intelligence. It would be a much better system for balancing immediate concerns with long-term collective issues.
We could have an app to vote on specific things, so the system's flexible and working for us.

this is the purpose of a republic, no? instead of direct democracy, the masses elect more, uh, tempered leaders to vote for them
also, this is why originally senators were NOT elected. senators were meant to be APPOINTED not elected
