in all seriousness, I cope better with pain that just happens to me when I don't expect it, and isn't caused by someone else
anticipated pain caused by an Other is much worse on the suffering scale than pain via accident or my body just doing stuff

Absolutely strong agree on this one. I handle paralyzingly bad stomach cramps that take my breath away like a champ, but pass out when someone else tries to poke me with a needle
