im pretty resilient to internet insults, but one thing that never fails to trigger me is when someone refers to me as "Finally starting to realize x" when X is something I'm deeply familiar with and have been arguing around for a long time.

Ur finally starting to realize the internet is all about hurting each other’s feelings.

That formulation 'finally starting to realize...' is very frustrating and implies an epistemic moral high ground. As if all conversation wasn't part of an open ended project of truth seeking by error correction. You never know what you don't know or will understand next!

Imo This feeling is why the brushoff "okay boomer" was a satisfying angle for a time- it flips script on the "Finally" quip.
Additional Activity: just for fun say that very last part out loud. it makes your mouth happy if you do

Were truth anything of value or something to prevail, then what's to them if you just came to realize whatever you just realized.

I thought I'd be smart/funny and start the obvious "Finally you're realizing that.." but of course several others where there already. However none of them used the realization my thoughts first went to: "Finally you realize self-reflection is an invaluable tool!"
