I don't feel, on principle, opposed to the idea that women are less intelligent than men. It seems unlikely this is true, but I don't think the question is bad to ask. The real issue is why are you so afraid of the possibility that someone is an IQ point or two lower than you?

If how much you respect and value people hinges so much on small differences in intelligence, then it would make sense that you are unable to entertain possibilities that associate, even super generally and with high variance, different IQ with different groups.

But that's not a good reason to not come to true conclusions. There's lots of true things that people use in stupid arguments, that just means we need to combat the stupid arguments, it doesn't mean we need to avoid thinking about the true thing!
It is a reason to keep the conclusions private and only share with people who won't be hurt by it. Learning things in the wrong order can harm people. Like when you teach people about cognitive biases and they use it to win arguments instead of to find the correct thing to argue.

Truth for truth’s sake is good, but research resources are limited like everything else. Is it an effective use of resources to more precisely measure IQ gaps given what we already know? Seems no, especially since we care most about individuals anyway.

Yes, absolutely, totally down with that part. But the point is that the fear of misinterpretation (which I agree is a bad reason) is the reason these people oppose it and jumping to the conclusion that they must themselves tie value to IQ is a non sequitur
