are you sure it's a principle and not in fact just a good conflict strategy which works best when framed as a principle?

maybe? It does feel 'good' though, as in, I choose to keep attempting to cooperate even though i know maybe you're defecting, because i want to show that i *will* in fact cooperate with you.
