Context matters right? I agree w/u if the political opinion is mundane. Not if the political opinion is for ex, women are 2nd class citizens and should be treated as such, or, you don't deserve healthcare if you're poor

So part of the difficulty here is where do we draw the lines here? That's a genuinely difficult question.

The revealed preference of a great many North Americans is that they at best don't value family, or at worst have disdain for it. So it shouldn't be surprising to see people start to openly state that family is a lower priority than political conformity.
