People have incredibly strong psychological mechanisms against even being able to think this thought, let alone say it
-
Might it be a peer-pressure derived? or do you think those mechanisms are innate within every individual regardless of circumstance?

You've probably seen the disagreement between Julia Galef and Russ Roberts on a similar topic?

Why would you not have kids if given the choice?
-
The effects on the body and mind pregnancy and giving birth have, maybe? Hormones out of whack before, during, after. Post-partum depression, stretch marks, swollen and chafed and bleeding nipples, torn perineum, nausea, etc.

This is a great question. I feel the impulse to say, I might advise myself to wait longer to have them. But in truth, if the world waited tell parents felt totally ready to have kids, there probably wouldn’t be very many kids.
