It seems there are positives and negatives to both. Home school requires strong parenting also imo. Is your negative view of public school based on anecdotes from friends along with culture? How did you form your opinion on this?

public for all of k-12: elementary - great (one of the very best in the area) middle school - awful (killed any chance of aspiring to an ivy, should have gone to local catholic school) high school - okay (should have gone to the one that was farther away)

I think it's up to the parents to adequately research schools, districts, and neighborhoods before enrolling their kids there. I purposely moved us 30 minutes to the other side of the city to a specific suburb to get my kids in great schools. It paid off SO well.

I had a quite positive experience in elementary school at a private school, negative experience at public middle school, and probably about neutral experience at high school, with a combination of some good things and some bad. Private vs public and school quality matter

I had sophisticated friends with professional jobs attended in 60k tuition private school that emphasizes on critical thinking and community which had dorms. It was basically the x-mansion,I was so envious.

met three homeschooled boys. 1st, nice quiet boy taking a choir credit with me in my HS. Drove him home once learning some dark sidepersonality. 2nd, a artsy nerd I drug partied with, Mormon background. 3rd is a sweet sheltered boy that travels but his single dad is a govt sniper
