100% or 0% gun ownership is better than 50% gun ownership. Fully deregulated or fully public health care/insurance is better than partially regulated. Full monog and full poly people report higher satisfaction than partially poly people. Is there a term for this phenomenon?

I think your arrow of causation may be backwards? E.g. unhappy relationships are more likely to become open relationships / happy people are likely to commit monogamously
