Should scientists who want to create humanzees (a hybrid between humans and chimpanzees) be legally allowed to do?

Anything that isn't legal is gonna be done illegally anyways so why not? What illegal things are people NOT doing?

Seems like genetically engineering a cognitively handicapped underclass could raise some ethical issues?

I said no, but would allow it on the condition that they themselves become humanzees.

I think you're creating a creature that's going to be fairly sentient and have only ambiguous legal rights, is going to be pretty isolated, and realistically the process of making it is going to involve a lot of dead babies. Doesn't seem like a particularly ethical hobby project.

A hybrid chimp/human could make an excellent pet or servant. They would be great for medical experiments too. Then again maybe this a dystopian nightmare. 🤔

But bringing back Neanderthals is a totally different story. That one we should do.
