Wouldn’t the consequence of eliminating 10% of one gender be a societal level boon to the surviving 90%?

In the US black population, black men were jailed at really high rates, leaving an excess of black women on the mating market. This left women in a really bad position; they had to lower their standards, cause their (non-jailed) men now had more options.
