can we taboo the word 'greedy'? Nearly every human being would like to have more material security than they currently have.

wait what. that doesn't line up with things i read or hear from politicians. don't many people live in poverty or struggle to get by even working full-time?

"Necessary" can be drawn at a lot of places. Basic food, water, and shelter might be all that's considered necessary (possible for low thousands of dollars). Or it might be access to the best possible healthcare (possible only with millions of dollars).

But that does not make them greedy, just gluttonous. Greedy would mean they are taking more to keep others from having it.

It's a term almost always misused in this way by people who misunderstand economics to be a zero sum game. It's not. Wanting more doesn't take away from others' ability to get more.

I have thought for a while that you like to ask thought provoking questions but this statement is just wrong. Over half a mill homeless, millions food insecure and/or in food deserts. Lacking healthcare, physical and mental. A large swath of America have fundamental needs unmet.
