One could define greedy as: covetous of excess of a good in a way that causes relative harm to others and/or to oneself (i.e., it effectively creates a zero-sum game).

But that does not make them greedy, just gluttonous. Greedy would mean they are taking more to keep others from having it.

What's your definition of necessary? I wouldn't feel secure unless I had enough money to live on even if I was unable to work.
I have thought for a while that you like to ask thought provoking questions but this statement is just wrong. Over half a mill homeless, millions food insecure and/or in food deserts. Lacking healthcare, physical and mental. A large swath of America have fundamental needs unmet.
