I guess it has to do with the idea of being privy to the desires of a woman when the rest of the world thinks she's pure as snow.

I don't think its appealing for most. I think its a form of infantilizing? Either Dom sub people, or older men generally.

Classical Disney princess propaganda that gets coalesces into a perverted sense of nostalgia as well as possible reinforcement from the father figure in other forms of merchandise/social pressures (Daddy's little princess clothing and so on).

It makes more sense in the dom/sub culture as it is a term of endearment, but a princess is seen as young and though revered, subservient to a master or "king". That sounds kind of weird, but it is the best way I can try to explain it.

i like this model. both valued and lacking agency, a simultaneous compliment and neg. still i find 'king' & 'queen' almost equally cringe-inducing.

The way I've always understood it is the social currency side of things. The beauty and making you feel good in all the right way stuff aside; people judge you over everything including who you date for both men and women (just usually to different extents)
-
As for the dom / sub side of things likely stems from ingrained portrayals of princesses being mostly helpless. Lacking the power of a king or queen but also far more valuable than other available women; puts them in a position of high value and vulnerability.
