My takeaway is people misunderstand the psychology behind online interactions and TIV runs rampant. Most of the people I see complain about excessive harassment have two things in common... 1.) They are insufferable 2.) They see even the slightest infraction as harassment

It's an example of victimhood culture: the more easily you feel targeted, the more you think a 3rd party should do something about it. In a dignity-based, people feel targeted a lot less, and are likelier to want to solve disagreements themselves.
