I’m curious why there’s pushback to the notion that not every kink needs to be indulged. No one is getting hurt in a straight forward way if you privately eat your own shit and jack off to it. But what are the knock on effects of normalizing that?https://twitter.com/default_friend/status/1352788310444281856 …

I understand to many of us that seems insane to ask. But I get it. I get why people ask, “this grosses me out but is it WRONG?” I think yes: no holds barred sexuality does something pernicious but not easily measurable. Some things needs to be off limits for our own good.

This is vague enough that I consider it dangerous; if you manage to put this into a more specific claim that can't also be used to shame a lot of things that shouldn't be shamed, I'd be more open to it

My question is: Are there any unexpected negatives to “all kinks are okay with consent”? The answer might be no. My intuition makes me feel like maybe some are better kept taboo or fringe (necrophilia, maybe?)

Do you mean something like, there's not actually wrong with e.g. necrophilia in a vacuum and I wouldn't shame someone in a vacuum, but I'm worried other people might hear the lack of shame as permission to do damaging things I don't agree with, so it's dangerous to not shame?

Yes, and also: does letting anything go do something to the individual indulging their desire? Is it technically not wrong, but can it otherwise warp how you interact with the world? I wonder— can certain things impact intimacy? Impact how we enjoy things?
