I often tweet critically about the left more than the right, and I suspect this is because I see more bad leftist stuff closer in my social spheres, and only rarely bad right stuff. But I do think if I started hanging around more right wingers I would get more upset about it.

An attempted coup seems really bad. Also taking power away from other government buildings like police stations seems really bad, tho not quite as bad. But then the police station was held for waaay longer? The gap between the two doesn't seem that massive to me

I don't think it was less of a coup attempt, they wanted to seize power, which fits the definition, and the diff between seattle government waiting vs the capitol hill shoving them out in a few hours doesn't feel that crucial a difference, tho I can see some difference.

Why are you so focused on the amount of time it took? You don’t think the people storming the Capitol coming with zip ties, building gallows, throwing a fire extinguisher at a cop’s head and killing him, smearing feces throughout the Capitol, etc etc etc makes for a crucial diff?

The time seems clearly important to me? As in one of them they attempted and failed to seize power in under a day, and the other they were actually occupying an area for weeks without being removed. The first feels kinda standard for a riot, the second makes me go wtf??

The first feels more damaging & threatening to democracy for me...ppl literally out for blood, rabidly scrambling in the Capitol searching for political figures to do what? Take hostage? Murder? On the basis of the false conspiracy that this election was stolen.
