I often tweet critically about the left more than the right, and I suspect this is because I see more bad leftist stuff closer in my social spheres, and only rarely bad right stuff. But I do think if I started hanging around more right wingers I would get more upset about it.

Insightful! I have wondered about this.
IMO your viewpoints shared here are right libertarian. Gender critical-ish, against critical race theory, comfortable with some capitalist economic arguments.
Your flight from xianity is more welcome on the left, though...

My "right friends" I disagree with can calmly discuss topics while my "left friends" get angry and arrogant in the same situation.

Does this hold for all topics or just ones that left ppl are more sensitive about? I find right wingers unable to handle me doing sex work, for example. And are they as extreme rightists as the leftists you're comparing them to?

I feel the same way. It's the same reason countries tend to hate neighboring countries more than countries in different parts of the world. The people close to us who we can't stand rile us up more than those we can't stand who are far away (geographically or culturally).

You two are also independent-thinking enough that you can take that uncomfortable position of being what I call a "local contrarian" -- many people just aren't ready to point out flaws in their peers: libertyrpf.substack.com/p/80-my-though
