This is bad cause it's *intensely* condescending. The person doesn't even bother to engage in any argument, because doing so would indicate there's space for you to disagree. They act like your disagreement is a sickness and they're just trying to show you where to find the cure.

Idk; when I think of something analagous - I'm poly (which is something with less social acceptance than homosexuality), and I'm down to discuss it with people who think poly is terrible.

Me too, but I imagine if I had that conversation come up as often as I have similar conversations around trans issues come up I’d start to feel differently about it. Not to mention that (ime), the polyamory discussions tend to be more civil, less vitriolic, generally less hurtful
