When asked if ppl would make someone a dictator for the US, 47% said no - but when I asked people to report their political leanings in *addition* to if they'd make someone a dictator, 60% said no.

My theory is people are more likely to choose an answer that looks better when they know their tribal affiliation is going to be visible.
Also, this might be good way to figure out which answers people consider to "look better" in other questions too!

I answered 'No' to both of those polls, but 'Yes' to the Musk one. I realize that doesn't make sense. I guess what that means is I dont like the idea of me choosing a dictator, but if one is a suggested, I am willing to consider it. Weird.

The political leaning one also has fewer participants and more importantly fewer retweets. It could also be that your own followers are less likely to choose to have a dictator for four years than your followers' followers are.

Could also be as simple as people had a chance to rethink after the first poll. I usually answer the poll and read the comments. While i chose the same both times, I've definitely changed my mind while reading comments plenty of times.

It's crazy to me that even over 1% would choose yes. Let alone a majority.
I honestly wonder what percent is memeing(sp?) when they say they would happily select a dictator.
Even if they aligned with me 100% I'd never do that, heck even if it was *me*.

Might be interesting to ask "Would the person you appointed share your political views and/or preferred solutions?"
I'm a bit left (of Biden, say) but I'd pick someone more centrist than myself. And extremely competent, of course.

I don't think the political leaning was the most accurate, because for me mine change depending on the candidate. I have voted for different party members in the last 3 presidential elections. For this poll I just went with the party I chose in the last election.
