I'm a bit confused by the contrast I hear in a lot of black discourse where they simultaneously support separation of race, having black-only businesses etc., while also simultaneously criticizing white flight.

It's the gap between the ideal (we can all do it together) versus the reality (we have to look out for ourselves). If we made more progress on the former, we'd see less of the latter.

Are you hearing black only owned businesses or black only customers? I'm not sure who's advocated for the latter
You can argue that unsupported groups should support each other while criticising the lack of support from the groups that, historically, largely caused the problem
