I'm fascinated by statistically anomalous voids in space. What is the explanation for an anomaly that enormous?

Very early on, stuff was compact and pretty uniform. Think of a circle shaped pond. When the temperature cooled off enough, some energy precipitated into matter and that happened unevenly (imagine the pond freezing over and ice cracking to make room).
